Gonna drop down a few lines about a friend that I can go on forever telling you about his talent!   The first time I ever corresponded with Eric Crawley I became immediately impressed.  This rocker reaches out and listens and gives and gives then reaches out and gives some more.   After listening to his music, I was like wow!  Very polished, very hot, very good rock music.  You immediately ask yourself "Why isn't this music played on the airwaves all over the world"?  Then you come to the realization: It will!  It is all here and the dude is a very decent human being!  I must say that I am proud to have Le Mystique on the roster with bands with the likes of Crawley.   Now the music!  The first of the Reverbnation is "High and Low"My fave!  Love this tune!  Goes through my head! (Find myself humming this tune in the course of my daily routine) I shit you not!  Happened to be playin Pearl Jam on Sirius in the other room and had Crawley on the comp.  The voices were very similar but Crawley blows Vedder away!  Yeah, I'm not even messin'! (Vedder is a fellow Evanston, IL native..., Seattle transplant)  Eric has pipes! That scream of \m/!!!! The next song "Today"  begins with acoustic guitar and very pastoral and reflective.  The song very well written...,excellent as a matter of fact!  Picks up at the second go round of the hook! Well done bros! Love the infectious lead guitar!  It's one of those riffs that get into your head! I really think at the very least, Crawly will end up with a major distribution deal.  That's the just the least of it.  I clearly see a major break for Crawley!  Here.., just listen to yourselves!

Bloggin' From the Noggin for 5/9/12  The topic: No other than my main man Mike Harvey!  It is so great to have this incredible institution of of music as a friend.  This is some par excellent musicianship!  Mike is the first to give support to those trying to perfect and promote their craft.  This bit of work that we showcase here is a masterpiece!!! It has been recorded, performed and produced with exceptional perfection.  This recording has been produced by renown Canadian producer Scott Young!  The name of this band and project is called Broken Wing.  The first of samples of clips is titled "Rock the World"  Appropriately named because it does! Blazing guitar work, so clean yet with crunch and plenty of bite!  The voice so strong and powerful! "In Your Face: Gets it done!  "Dream Catcher" begins as a very cool tremolo effect.  Then leads with a nice blend of  "Zeppelin-like" acoustic guitar blended with strong electric guitar.  This draws you in, vocals conquer the rest. "Darkest Before Dawn" Begins with the purr of the Rhodes Keyboard and again the very confident-well confident vocals take you right along.  This tune remind me of Bad Company and there's nothing wrong with that:  You just have to have a listen for yourselves:

Today's feature of Bloggin' from the Noggin is a friend and most talented singer/songwriter with par excellent musicianship.  John is making music from way up there in the Rockies of Colorado.  I'd say that would give a bit of inspiration in writing music.  But Mr. Maun has exceptional talent!   The current repertoire begins with "Faded Away"  This is s delightful tune!  Very easy to listen to this tune.  This song has some real Cat Stevens qualities. (That is when known as Cat Stevens) What a smooth and very strong voice that is very pleasant to listen to. The acoustic melody provides such a happy feel to this tune.  There are some brilliant Chromatic runs that add a sweet touch.  Oh how I love the sound of dual acoustics so beautifully complimenting one another.  "Pavement Picasso" WOW!  This is so smooth! Just love these vocals! Excellent E-guitar work in this one.  A sweet tune with a touch of crunch! Oh and the sax! This draws any and everyone into this tune!  "That Place Called Home"  There is a bit of indie rock sound here!  NIce harmonies! I'd say there is a touch of Randy Newman here! ATTENTION MUSIC DIRECTORS!!! This song needs to be in a motion picture soundtrack!  John Maun places a very nice balance between acoustic and crunch!  He also has pipes!!! listen here for yourselves:

Today I'm writing about a friend of mine, Katzy Edward.  His band is called ABYSSABALZE!  The name fits the music.  It is anything but boring and mundane. It is chromatic, harmonic, melodic, exotic, and phonic.  The arrangements are complex.  These are not just thrown together and casually recorded.  This takes work, ingenuity, skill. intelligence with some congenital influence.  This man is talented!  The music is so cerebral that you cannot listen to it on the fly!  You have to let your brain conceive of it's brilliance.

The first tune of the repertoire is "Equilibrium"  The tune seems complicated at first but as the vocals and and musical expressions find their way, as complex it may be, there is found an equilibrium! "Sentinal" begins as a sweet vocal, then it takes off! Straight ahead and cruisin' from there on in.  Vocals and rhythm word together.  This guitar solo breaks out and plays a little back and forth trade with the vocals.  This a very nice touch!

Some of this work so reminds me of some of the complex orchestrations reminiscent of Jethro Tull.  The music her though, very contemporary!

Also take note that Katzy is a keyboardist that has totally conquered electronica and is taking the metal world by storm!!!!

What about this band can't I say?  They are good in any and every way.  Not just words here folks.  This band is far better than many many many signed bands I have listended to.  This is the ultimate in top notch!  I am so proud to be on the roster at Longhair productions with all of the other bands and this one is  prime example why. My good friend and most wonderful person, Ron Humphries thumps out the bass lines of this fun and lively music. The first song in there repertoire is "You Know"  The guitar is so blazing that it makes a man feel like he needs guitar sound enhancement! (Maybe there is a supplement that makes you drive around town with nothing but a large ass smile on your face and your nothing but a lady magnet) The music is very similar to Leonard Skynrd and Marshall Tucker.  The thing is, it is not trying to relive the old.  It has a freshness to it and many times sounds like Umphries Mcgee (Fellow Chicagoans.  They are definitely of this caliber at any rate. Listen for yourselves!

Vlay is a rock band from Monterey, CA.  A place with some musical history.  Yeah...,Jimi Hendrix played his first U.S performance from his return from the UK.  He set his guitar on fire "literally" and set the music industry on fire as well.  That very Monterey Pop Fest conceived The Grateful Dead.  Monterey is a very mystical place (Especially when the fog rolls in) The history speaks for itself...,i.e. John Steinbeck.  Vlay was formed by (Monterey homeboy) Gary Gabriel. Gary shows his musical genius in his flexibility to embrace multi-genre.  This is well exemplified with the rather ambient intro of "Blurry" Which builds into an emotional bit of metallic groove.  (I love that effect).  Vlay gives you great production, musicianship and vocal performance.  Just listen fro yourselves:

Am working on a trilogy of holiday music.  The third being rather humorous and is based on a little thing that was a submission I did for the WXRT Richard Milne's Local Anesthetic Holiday Spectacular in 2001.  I will park the original here(home website) sometime in November.  I will also be leaving some holiday treats for our most beloved Halloween.  It is such a Le Mystical holiday.

Peace and good wishes to everyone !

One thing that I have learned in life, is that any achievement of success has been the result of some small achievements and many failures.

Have a listen "Turn To Blue" especially my green followers!

Passionate kiss..., sensuous bite.  Check out "The Night" re: The vampire in you.

Savoring the autumnal sensations in the rural Midwest.  Adoring the lady's paintings in amber.

There is nothing foreign in this universe.

The recording for "Turn To Blue" has been completed!  Feeeeooooh! That was some work.  Mastering and editing time and it will be up for listen.  This was by far my biggest production.  Recorded every track moi self.  What else is new?  For starters, am going to acquire the recording rights to a well known cover song.  Only my Facebook friends know which one,  but I think this is going to come off very well.  It was a hit in the sixties. Gonna do a bit of a spin of my own.  Also, am gonna record a Christmas song I wrote last Christmas. This is actually next on the docket. (Time waits for no one).  I will keep you posted.

Peace to you and all on this planet!

Jimmy D

As if I didn't have enough projects to tackle at this time, decided to rerecord The Ship.  I wrote and recorded this 12 years ago and it is a decent tune.  My equipment at that time was extremely limited.  It is a very eclectic tune and i aim to give it some justice.  I really think it will have a mass appeal. (There I go again building castles in the sky.  though not really a problem unless i decide to live in them)  Sung in the deeper voice.

Peace to you all!

Jimmy D

Turn To Blue is a real work in progress.  I cannot wait to share it with you.  So far I have recorded about 12 different opening leads and think I've got just the right one.  The feel is that of the mystical blues lead guitarist, David Gilmore.  Some years ago I would slow the record speed to 16 rpm.  It was a pain staking method for figuring out lead guitar riffs.  Sometimes I would question the octave I was in. After screwing up the vinyl grooves you would begin to get somewhere.   Some things were fairly straight forward at remedial speed.  However, some seemed virtually impossible.  Dicky Betts could dance around the pentatonic scale and string riffs together in some amazing speeds and cadence. Jimi Hendrix, well we know about the legendary lead style, but his rhythm was practically lead.

Today's technology allows you to slow down the riff without changing the pitch.  Aint that a bitch!  I love it!!!I'm having so much fun writing and recording music.  I have nothing to lose! But this song is a great one!  If not, it has lead me to a new approach of writing an recording.

Bless yall

Jimmy D

What would be a good name for a Le Mystique Christmas song?  Three Hairy Wise men and The Hookah?

Autumnal sensations..., so mystical!!

The lady makes a move so that she doesn't get too much sun in one place.   You go woman!

Good day to fly..., hangin' out with angels in the sky!

A few more tweaks and edits with some mastering and I will upload "Turn to Blue" a song about our mutha.

I keep breakin' E and B strings.  I must be in that particular groove!

Soon to Upload Turn To Blue, A song about our home. Kind of Floydish.

Just finished recording Turn TO Blue.  A totally different sound.  A little twist of Tull ( Major 3rds ) in a framework of Pink FLoyd.  It is enveloped in the Indie sound that I love so much.

Jimmy D

Brought out a song that has been sitting in my archives for close to 10 years.  Written and recorded just after 9/11/1. You may download it.  Written entirely on the emotion of the day and in awe of heros before our eyes.  Peace to all!

I might be a dog, but today I'm saying meow.

How are you? Check out Mystically In Love!

Jimmy D

A surprise release is quite near.  Virtually analog and back to my roots. I'll tweet ya when it's done!

The Mutha ship has been spotted hovering over the UK.

The Mutha Ship is in!

This week, Le Mystique will be launching 2 new songs.  The first shall be released around 10:00 PM CDT.  Mutha Ship (retro funk)  A lot of funky potential with this one.  Later this week, Turn To Blue (very Pink Floydish)  This would be the first of the Mystical blues/ rock genre.   I appreciate the listens and any feedback.  I put this music out for fun and that is what I hope you get out of it!!!

Jimmy D

Keep your eyes and ears open on Facebook and Twitter.  The Mutha Ship is comming!

There is so much around us and we really don't realize it.  Maybe there are no such things as space aliens and maybe they do exist. We definitely know there are UFO's.

JUST TESTING THE WATERS OF THE UNIVERSE!!!

New look on the website! and the new song?  Today for sure...  I set up my brand new mastering software on my mac and it is awesome.  Was playing around with different sounds and wasn't quite sure on the final product.  I'm working on it right now! Woo Hoo!

Jimmy D

The flash player is suppose to be at the top of the page.  Am working on this issue.
